HIS-STORY
Tito Heron belongs to the new batch of producers and DJs who are the descendants
of the post-disco generation of dance music tastemakers. Himself from a
family of artists, Dado wanted to be a musician ever since he can remember.
He first got introduced to the house scene in his teens (in 1988) by the
owner of the famous Music Hall in Venice. After hearing the mixes of Little
Louie Vega, Tony Humphries and Frankie Knuckles he promptly changed his
instruments for a set of turntables. The first live gig he ever saw was
in 1989 in The Gallery Sebastian, Rovinio.
Originally from Croatia, he moved to Germany where he studied Sound Engineering
in Munich. In 1993 he produces his first track ‘Out of Africa’ using the
college’s recording facilities. Beyond all expectations the production got
signed up and wins a Phillipe Morris award.
For him DJ-ing was always as creative as producing and remixing. A good
DJ can take two records and create an entirely new sound by way of blending
them together. Taking his inspiration from the Italian ‘Cosmic’ scene and
calling himself DJ Dado, he begins a club night called ‘The Future Sound
of Jazz’.
1996 sees a complete turn in his career. He moves to London and starts working
for Sony BP Europe. However, the Scene, centered around Ladbroke Grove and
Notting Hill draws him back into music making. The encouraging response
of the likes of Little Louie Vega, Mateo & Matos and Boris D’Lugosh to the
first Tito Heron ruff cuts brings him back to the recording studio in 1999,
where he indulges his musical passions once again to the full.
The launch party for Tito Heron's first record was such a success that they
had to do it 5 times over and the invitations for it were changing hands
for 20 quid on the local Portobello Market. The appearance at Notting Hill
Arts Club during Notting Hill Carnival secured a residency at the center
of West London’s creative community, propelling Tito Heron and Karl Gonzales
into the ranks of Lazy Dogs Jay Hannan and Ben Watt (from Everything But
The Girl), Phil Asher orPatrick Forge and regulars at the club included
people like Brian Eno, Hugh Grant, Kate Moos and Malcolm Mclaren…
Pauls “That Beat” is currently on release on 7” &
12” with extra mixes from Ricky Morrison (Salsoul Nugget) and Big
Hair and is currently being played out by the Groove Armada, JellyJazz’s
