Zak Frost
(One of the most hotly tipped, in-demand DJs on the European underground)
Playing a major role in the recent emergence of a new form of house music.
Over the last decade he has played over 1,000 parties in 20 different countries,
including many of Europe's leading clubs and festivals, as well as top London
venues such as Fabric, The End, Ministry of Sound, The Egg, Turnmills and
The Cross. DJ Magazine recently featured Zak in their 'Stars of 2005' feature,
and he has become renown for his electrifying sets of future house, jackin'
electro and space disco.
Zak's main residency is now at Nodisko, a regular Sunday-nighter that over the last 20 months has become a West London institution and won huge acclaim from the public and UK press. Rammed every week, Nodisko has a unique atmosphere and soundtrack that has made it one of London's hottest club nights. Time Out magazine said 'Nodisko is setting the dancefloor alight', The Evening Standard: 'Yet another cracking Nodisko party' and DJ Magazine: 'The Hottest Ticket In Town'. From October 2005 Nodisko will be relaunching every Friday night and is set to become London's best night out. Nodisko also host one off parties at all the best super-clubs in London.
After bunking off school early to tour Europe as bass player in a rock band, in the early '90s Zak discovered electronic music and immediately became a resident DJ of the Code Red Sound System, playing at huge illegal parties across the South of England, as well as at the last ever night of the Universe's legendary Final Frontier night at Club UK. He then moved to London and started the deepblue parties in South London, also travelling every month to the Rust club in Copenhagen to host deepblueDK, which featured guest DJs like The Idjut Boys, Maurice Fulton and Chicken Lips and was declared 4th best club night in the world by Jockey Slut magazine.
Zak soon became popular all across Europe as a guest DJ, travelling every weekend to play at legendary clubs such as Relish in Zurich, Jazid in Oslo, Kremlin in Lisbon, Underground City in Rome and many more. He lived in Italy for 2 years and concentrated almost exclusively on European guest bookings, before moving back to the UK in 2003 to set his sights firmly on London once again.
Zak was also the resident DJ at the Trans Europe Express festivals in London and Stockholm (which featured the likes of The Glimmer Twins, Spektrum, Patrick Pulsinger, Headman and Bangkok Impact) as well as (alongside fellow resident Rob Mello) 2004's super-cool Horny Pony parties at the Notting Hill Arts Club. As a producer Zak released two huge 12"s for Afro Art Records in 2002/3 under the name Frogsnatcher, heard everywhere from the main floor of Fabric to BBC Radio One. In 2002 (along with long-time friend Björn Torske) he compiled and mixed the Scandonova album for Fuego Records that has sold over 30,000 copies worldwide. He's now back on the studio remixing, re-editing and producing - watch this space...
